Native Texan, moved here Oct. 2015.
I actually love these threads.
Maybe it's where I live, but I'd have to disagree with the liberal lefty observation.
I was shocked at the crime rate. Shocked also at the lack of police presence. School system is lacking.
Also gained 10 lbs when we first moved here. Dang sweet tea and southern soul food.
But..the beauty of Georgia/Atlanta area is stunning.
North -South-East-West anywhere we've traveled here we have never been disappointed.

Just overheard my husband talking to his colleagues. ..
A new plant is on the horizon.
I hope to hell we get to stay here a few more years before we have to move again.

Yep, the crime is staggering. Perhaps the new police chief will do better.

Disagree about it not being super liberal though. Look at the election results for City of Atlanta. Clinton got above 90% in most of the city, and it has nothing to do with race. She got above 90% in even the lily white affluent sections of the city.

And for those of you getting fatter, that's not Atlanta's fault. There's an abundance of options here for those who want to be active.

The Silver Comet Trail, the Beltline, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park and the Chattahoochee River National Park are great resources for getting outdoors without traveling outside the metro area. There are lots of meetup groups focused on outdoor activities, too.

Exactly, a lazy person in Atlanta will still be a lazy person in Paris lol. A person who eats fried food in Atlanta, won't start eating salads in Paris.

Local politics are curious. Interesting how folks on the east side of Habersham went heavily for Clinton, whereas as those on the west side went for Trump.

Likewise, Garden Hills and Peachtree Park are Clinton territory, while the west side of Roswell Road prefers Trump.
