You don't need a speed limit on the Beltline, just have a no passing rule, lol.

I am really looking forward to the ATL becoming a more cycle-friendly city, regardless of how many people actually ride. It will be safer for those who do ride and in the long term it could induce more people to get out there and work those lungs and legs.

Pedestrians have the right of way, but also if the faster walkers would move over to the right after passing, it would help the flow of faster moving traffic. (I know it's a lot to expect people walking to do this when they can't even do this driving.)

It makes no sense to me either, but I see bicyclists attempting to do that to cars in rush hour traffic by "claiming the lane" after threading to the front at red lights.

The only time I will filter past cars is making a right turn or I know a left turning car will be blocking traffic (eg: Krog at DeKalb) or a bike lane begins at the next block.

Cell phone people are a major impediment to traffic on the roads and the same is probably true of the Beltline.

I responded to someone suggesting a no passing rule. Doesn't do any good to keep to the right if nobody is allowed to pass anyway.

I already figured that would be the case by considering how your basic decency and patience shows when responding to trolls and argumentative posters (yah, me lol) on city-data.

It does appear, in my opinion, that the Birds are the initial movement into the mainstream of really modifying our anti-bike/pro-car culture here in the core. They are everywhere you turn. Low barriers of entry and relatively cheap. After coming back from Midtown lunch on a bird, I parked it on my street in Morningside and within 30 minutes, it was gone. And when they become even more widespread, the push for separated lanes be even more prominent. No more whining about too hot, too hilly, sweaty, etc from the pro-car folks. I'm looking forward to the public conversation over the next few years about these new transportation/last mile connectivity solutions.
