I know someone mentioned this several months ago...it seems like more and more music acts are skipping Atlanta on their tours.

I just wanted to mention, that in 2018, I see at least 3 major acts skipping our town on their tours:

Slayer
Judas Priest
Ozzy Osbourne

This is pretty significant. Slayer and Ozzy are embarking on farewell tours, so it's your last chance to see them (until they run out of money). Judas Priest has a pretty hotly anticipated album coming out next month, so their tour should be pretty big and well-received.

I really would have expected all of these tours to make a stop here. But they aren't.

They're all skipping over most of the south except Florida it seems. I went to a few rock concerts at Lakewood some years ago, to see folk like Bury Your Dead. Things could have changed, but crowds were never super packed. Would they perform at the Benz? Maybe ATL charges an arm and a leg for shows that don't sell out.

Are you taking about Warped Tour? That’s a bit different.

(BTW Bury Your Dead is playing a cheap metalcore fest in Savannah this weekend)

Bruno Mars recently mentioned that he really tried to come to Atlanta for his revamped 24K tour, but there wasn't any venues anywhere. Maybe some of the rock artists are experiencing the same problem?

No venues? Between the Philips Arena, the new Falcons stadium and the arena in Gwinnett...are they all booked up for other events?

All of these bands are past their primes, but still large enough to play arenas and not clubs. For that reason, I think Gwinnett Arena is perfect for thiem with it's seating capacity about 2/3 that of Philips Arena.

Looking at its calendar, some of May is still available, much of June is, almost all of July, and just about all of August. Surely they could make this work somehow if they only wanted to.

Maybe the demographics in this area aren’t enough of a match to come here? Everything is driven by data now and they’ve probably done analyses.
