I'm in Gwinnett. I don't want to litigate my case on here -- let's just say that I think a wonderful idea has turned into a scam.

If you've fought one of these tickets I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Alley

What are you referring to? Passing a school bus that had its red flashing lights on? If so, please explain how it's a scam.

It's become an epidemic here. Anyone found guilty of this should have a $1200.00 fine and a suspended license for one year.

Even though you might have received this ticket in Gwinnett County, this recent thread on a passing school bus violation in the City of Atlanta potentially might be helpful...

Upon what basis would you try to fight the ticket? Unless there were cameras involved or you can gather witnesses that the judge would allow or find credible then it is your word vs the officer's word.

When you say its a scam, what do you mean? The size of the school zone? The layout or logistics of the street where the bus is stopped? Most kangaroo traffic courts are not interested in grey areas, semantic points or rationalizing. If the officer says that you didn't stop then they are probably going to take the easiest path available to them which is to find you guilty, impose a fine and let you know where you can pay on your way out of the courthouse.

If I were your judge, I doubt I would have the stomach for leniency at this time. Have you been keeping up with the news?
