Normally, this wouldn't deserve its own thread, but with this announcement, Atlanta's only Southside "mall" (not counting Ashley Park in Newnan) will only have one remaining anchor (Macy's).

Question is, with now only one anchor and assuming Macy's doesn't also close that store soon, how long will Southlake be able to survive? It would be a pretty huge blow, especially psychologically, to lose the only traditional mall in South Atlanta.

I was going to say I don't know how Gwinnett Place Sears keeps surviving, but it's on the chopping block, too (as well as Northlake).

That will leave that mall with a Macy's, a Mega Mart, and a Beauty Master.....so pretty much, just a Macy's.

I hate to hear this! Although, with the condition of Sear's nationwide, I am not surprised. This is our "go-to place" for children's shoes.

I'm glad it's going. Sears sucks. I'm hoping something better can replace it, it's a waste of space in a pretty decent mall in my opinion. Macy's is still doing well, and their store isn't dirty and outdated.

I understand where this sentiment comes from.

BELIEVE ME, I understand where it comes from!!!!

However, Sears is still one of the best places you can ever buy an appliance. Not only do a lot of the people who work there actually know about the equipment, Sears actually services them with people who work for Sears, not contractors (at least, I think they still do.)

Sears is also a great place to buy mattresses. Mattresses have some of the most ludicrous mark-ups of anything you can buy. At least at Sears they don't play games like they do at practically every single mattress retailer.

Also, the Roebuck & Co. line of clothing for men actually isn't bad! I can't speak to women's apparel, but the mens stuff is pretty rugged and good for certain activities. Now, the merchandising sucks and trying to find someone to check you out is frustrating, but the products...not bad.

Sears makes me really upset because all I can see is what a great store it could, and should, be. It's almost like it's run by people who are slowly destroying it intentionally. Management has supplied Harvard Business School with at least 100 years worth of case studies where just about EVERY SINGLE DECISION they have made has been wrong. What do you expect when a hedge fund manager runs your company?

I've always thought this, and I like buying appliances there, but last time I needed a washer/dryer I did some research on their website, then went to the Northlake store to actually see and touch the product. We discovered that buying online gets you free delivery, but buying in store will cost you $75 for delivery, or something like that. That seemed exceptionally stupid and backwards to me.
