Of course, I grew up where power outages were a problem, so I've always sought neighborhoods with underground lines. If the power ever does go out, Ga Power prioritizes fixing the lines that will restore power to the most people first, so you get it back quickly. We also have a decently smart grid, which helps minimize disruptions. If you live in an area with a lot of overhead lines and one that goes down may only impact a few homes, restoring things may take more time.

I've only been without power overnight once during 23 years in Atlanta. It was during Hurricane Ivan. The next day, Ga Power brought a temporary transformer thing to supply power while they fixed the lines.
Can’t fault the logic, but note that if the power outage is widespread for whatever reason the local hotels may be out as well. It all depends upon comfort vs expense.

True, but we don't get massive events that lead to widespread power disruptions. If that ever does happen, the major hotels will still have power. I've never seen it occur here. But hey, if you have a generator, don't mind spending the money to haul it down, hook it up and maintain it and it makes you feel better, it's not going to hurt. I just wouldn't put myself out to do it and would rather take the extra marketability of selling a house with a generator included.

And I don't say so lightly. I'd definitely advise bringing it if power outages lasting more than 10 minutes were a thing.

My hunch is a new townhouse in Dunwoody has underground lines and would be a fixing priority for Ga Power.

Also, if Armageddon happens and the streets are blocked, you can always MARTA from Dunwoody to any of the zillion intown hotels that will definitely have power.
