Hi!

I know a thread was done a few weeks or months ago regarding renting a room in Atlanta. I'm curious if anyone has tried Places4students.com or myroommates.com and what your experiences have been. I may need to rent a room very soon and just curious as to where to look. I really don't want to check Craigslist and have heard Promove doesn't offer this service.

I have seen a lot of people on NextDoor wanting to rent a room (and people announcing they have a room available to rent).

The downside is that you can only access NextDoor postings in your area, but the benefit is that at least you avoid the creepy folks since presumably anyone posting on there is "known" since it's a neighborhood thing.

If you are searching outside your immediate area and know someone in your target area, you can ask them to post on your behalf. I've seen people posting with "My colleague is looking for" type things.

Thanks!!! I didn't even think of this. I will definitely keep this in mind as an option. I have been pretty weary of certain web sites as scam stories are abundant and so Nextdoor would take away some of the "creepy" fear. The people in my area on Nextdoor can be pretty horrible...it's like breeding ground for racists and all these people who want think their way of life should be yours. I'll still keep it as an option though as it might be easier to verify.

If this is a temporary need you could check Airbnb. That likely wouldn't be a great option if you need something more permanent.
