Lilburn makes it seems like it is the whole day

The cameras will operate on school days, beginning one hour before school and ending one hour after school. Normal school hours are 8:15 a.m.-2:45 p.m. All citations will be reviewed by an officer before they are approved and issued.

But what speed will they enforce during that midday period? That's the single biggest question I have that no one seems to have an answer to.

Yeah, I would have a big problem with receiving a school zone violation during non school zone hours.

To any complaints about license plate reading, the ship sailed on that a while ago.

For at least a couple years now, Georgia Power has basically become a surveillance provider with a power supplying side business.

And for government entities, there's a significant benefit in the form of fourth amendment jurisprudence (with constitutional protections much looser if the private sector hoovers up the data rather than government directly).

These cameras should only be activated if these detect any speed violation. Activation of these cameras all the time does not make any sense.

Default Automated cameras catch motorists going nearly 40 mph over speed limit in school zones

Even with lights flashing and the new automated speed enforcement cameras having been recording for several months now, some drivers continue to fly right through school zones.

Quote:
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — School zone speeders were caught going nearly 40 miles per hour over the speed limit in Gwinnett County.

Police say new automated cameras captured the drivers violating the speed limit...

... Cameras caught a car going 73 miles per hour in Lilburn on Killian Hill Road. Another truck was clocked at 74 miles per hour. All drivers caught on camera received either a warning or a citation.
New automated cameras will make school zone speeders pay in metro Atlanta (WSB-TV, Atlanta)

I got a $75 fine in the mail for going 47 on a 35 mph school zone, I thought it was 45 mph speed limit. The camera is on Beaver Ruin Road but the Summerour Middle School is on Price Place NW.

The location of the camera: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.9428...7i16384!8i8192

ooo...yuck... I'm glad you mentioned this.

That will be a speed trap location.

The speed limit drops to 35 several blocks before you get to Buford Hwy.

Was it an active school zone as in within school zone hours or was it during non school zone hours?
