Hello! In a year unlike all others, word on the street is that private school applications are up 40% (or more!) over prior years, even though there are no additional spots available. It's safe to assume that more applicants than usual will be waitlisted. A plea to those families who may be new to this process and not aware of etiquette: If you are offered admission at your #1 choice that you know you will accept, PLEASE accept and notify other schools that you are declining their offer ASAP! This will get the waitlists moving! For instance, if my child is waitlisted at our #1 choice, but offered admission to #2 choice, we won't accept an admission offer at #2 right away because we will be waiting and holding out hope that we're moved off the waitlist and offered a spot at #1. That, in turn, affects other people who are waitlisted at #2 but really want to go there. It benefits all applicants to act quickly. Thanks in advance

I agree that this would be great. Just keep in mind that you have to secure a spot with your deposit and some people may not have the funds instantly available. HOWEVER, they can certainly help by not holding multiple offers while they're deciding which to attend. In other words, try to keep only one offer pending while you're getting your act together.
