^^^ I agree with you 110%, but yet sadly still those stats are wrong, I know for a fact that there have been at least 6 shootings in Atlanta since last Friday.

I have no idea what kinds of "shootings" are included in that map...but probably only ones with criminal intent - not defending one's home, accidental shootings, or anything along those lines.

I searched the AJC online for shooting in the past 7 days and could only come up with 3...but those same stories popped up several times each under different dates. I have no idea if the map is right or wrong, but it seems pretty accurate.

^^

The AJC underreports to say the least, dude I did a project back when I was in school, and in the course of my research I came to the conclusion that among other reasons, one of the main reasons the core metro counties don’t merge and form a metro police/emergency agency like you see in other cities, is because they would have to add up all the murders and other serious crimes and add them up as one. Right now when the FBI does the Atlanta numbers, they just do the actual city of Atlanta, not even the close in counties which aren’t in Atlanta but are still the inner core of the city. For the year I studied, I think Atlanta had like 153 murders, unincorporated Fulton had 36 murders, Clayton County had like 75, Dekalb County had almost 90, Cobb had like 35, and Gwinnett had like 40, and this was back in like 2003 or 2004, so some areas like Clayton, Dekalb and Gwinnett Im sure have much higher totals now. I don’t even want to add those numbers and give you the exact figure because that stat scares me.
