I am currently a college student taking classes in GPC, and I will transfer to GT in this fall semester. I am planning to buy a house near the campus. what im worrying about is the security there! I heard from some of my friends said it is terriblely unsafe down there, especially at night. Is that true?
and if it is not that terrible, is it easy to rent out my spare rooms to students around there? looking forward ur answers.thank you!

Depends on which side of the campus you want to buy. The nicer the area, the more you're going to pay, and the higher rent you would have to charge. Peachtree side isn't too bad but there are few cheap places and most places are condos. Home Park area is cheaper but generally older homes that turn into college party houses all the way up to Atlantic Station. West side of campus tends to be the sketchiest/oldest area along Northside/Howell Mill. There's also lots of houses south on Techwood but I'm not too familiar w/ that area but I don't think its too great.

Proximity to campus, amenities, etc will be also be big variables in how much you can get for rent. I'm not sure you can really make the finances make sense unless you've got plenty of income already b/c Tech students don't pay all that much for dorms and those who live off campus can either find places for dirt cheap or they're willing to pay for premium housing which can be cost prohibitive to buy and rent out.
