Hi!

First off I must say that I've searched through the forum to see if I could find any recent apartment suggestions for my circumstances but that search yielded no results, therefore I had to make a thread... I'm a young, female professional who is relocating to Atlanta, GA but I want to reside on the outskirts of the city due to the fact that I heard that when you reside within the city, you're either facing high crime rates or high rental prices :-\ So I was wondering if anyone could provide some great suggestions on apartments that are within the $450-525 range in Atlanta? I've attempted Google searches and apartmentratings.com for HOURS upon HOURS but it seems EVERY apartment that I search for reviews, they're all TERRIBLE!! My main concerns are safety and pests...I have never lived in a place with pest issues nor safety issues and as a young woman, I prefer a place that doesn't possess neither.

I can't claim longevity in my current residence, but Indian Trail Apartments in Norcross has been a great move for me and my girlfriend, currently expecting. We've been here for a month and haven't had ANY trouble. The neighbors (ones I've met) are nice. Rent is cheap also (within your range). The commute is bearable into downtown, midtown & Buckhead (20-35 minutes if traffic isn't backed up).

Where will you be working? Not the exact address or name of the employer, but the general location, eg.. Midtown, the airport, Northern Fulton county, etc.

For example if you are working at the airport, the outskirts of town might mean in terms of a bearable commute, Clayton, Fayette, Henry or Coweta counties for example. (there may be other places as well, these are just quick suggestions).

Also are you driving? That may or may not matter on the choices of places to suggest to you. For your price ranger, I am sure there may be some decent apts that meet your criteria, but I would think your choices may be limited at the price point you indicated.

I can think of places that I think would be suitable for you given your requirements, but the rent would be more than your price range.

Good luck to you.

Thank you guys for responding. Wandering Import, yes I've heard mixed reviews of Indian Trail, did they allow for you all to view the actual unit that you were moving into?

NYPeach, I will be working in Gwinnett County, so the area on the outskirts is more of the Duluth/Norcross area; and yes my price range is very tight which I understand I can't expect "luxury" at that range but I would hope that still for the amount I'm paying, living in a pest free & safe environment won't be a long stretch Lol. Also I will be commuting (driving) so I do not mind more farther out cities because as I said my main concerns are pests and safety.

Awhile back I post this in response to another person looking for an apt in that area. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I definitely wouldn't rely on those online reviews for accuracy. They seem to simply be an outlet for disgruntled residents and/or those with some sort of vendetta...so it's not likely to get an accurate idea of what life is like.

If being near the city isn't important to you, then go out as far as you possibly can - you get more for you money the further you go. But don't come with the idea that anywhere is "safe"...crime happens absolutely everywhere.
