Grayson or Suwanee relocating from Wisconsin..help!
I was hoping someone could help me with where to move. My husband is getting relocated to the Conyers area. He really wants Grayson,I want Suwanee. Our only research has been through the internet and school ratings,we have two children 5 and 2 years of age.Any and all suggestion, please!! And I do understand that Suwanee is further away from Conyers.

Yes, Grayson is much closer to Conyers...but I'm on your side. Suwanee is the better community IMO.

Suwanee to Conyers is a horrendous commute. You would be better off living in Decatur and doing a reverse commute on Highway 20. Even Grayson will be a long commute considering the nature of the roads connecting the two places. I suggest looking in Conyers.

As much as I love Suwanee, I definitely would not recommend living in Suwanee and driving to Conyers every day or even a few days per week. I wish I could be more helpful, but I'm not very familiar with the area east of Atlanta. I'm sure others on the east side will be able to help. Best wishes!

As they say in the south, "You can't get there from here!" Suwanee to Conyers would be an absolute nightmare - there is really no easy way to get there.

I agree with your husband that Grayson has some very nice schools. Suwanee does as well, but commuting to Conyers would be crazy from Suwanee. My husband was in the same situation, job transfer from MI to GA. We were scared at first as well. We approached like an adventure. We have lived in Grayson now for three years and couldn't have been happier. The other thing that we like about Grayson is that it is far enough away from the city to avoid the traffic, yet close enough to all the amenities and shopping you could want. I wish you well on your search, and good luck. I think you would be happy here.

There's nothing wrong with Grayson. It's one of the few nicer cities left in Gwinnett county. I lived there for 4 years. It's got everything you need. Plenty places to eat, several banks, grocery stores, auto parts stores, post office, etc..The schools are good. I'd wager to say they're some of the best in Gwinnett county these days.
And FYI, you can get to Conyers fairly easily from Grayson using backroads and hit almost zero traffic. You will NEVER avoid traffic if you are commuting from Suwanne. If you decide to move to Grayson I have no problems sharing the backroads with your husband. Let me know. Good luck
