I don't evaluate competence based on "four legs good, two legs bad." Sam Olens seems like a very competent administrator to me. Sonny Perdue does not.

I agree with you 100% on Olens. Cobb County is a VERY well run county, and Olens has a large part in that fact. He's also well respected regionally and participates in the regional planning board. He would make a great Governor, but I don't see him appealing to the more "southern" types outside Atlanta. He's not a social hardliner and is more concerned with moving the county and the state forward, rather than living in the past.

I would disagree with you on Purdue to a point. I think he's a competent administrator, but I don't agree with his religious based positions and really don't like the whole fundamentalist, force your religion down people's throats thing. I prefer a guy like Romney who believes but doesn't have to wear it on his sleeve.

To be honest, my disapproval of our current governor is based largely on (a) his disingenuous use of the flag issue to get elected (not, of course, that I approve of the flaggers, but they were used), (b) his religious positions (I echo your sentiments, Neil), (c) his failure to come to grips with Atlanta's transportation problem. He may well be a competent administrator in a day-to-day sense but he's untrustworthy and not a leader.

Cobb County appears to be about the best run county in the metro area.
I would probably vote for him.

Absolutely spot on!

I would add more to this, but this is a family forum.

I think you all know my opinion of Boss Hogg.
