Athens Pizza on Clairmont in Decatur.

Thin crust, wonderful Greek pizza.

So glad you like Athens!

Haven't been to Shorty's yet, but hear the calamari is as good as the pizza. It's on my list, for sure.

Chicago pizza is on my do not eat list. If I wanted lasagna, I'd order lasagna.

Rosa's downtown has good NY style pizza.

I generally stick to thin crust, and Shorty's is my choice.

Fritti is extremely good, but the yuppie-ness of the place is a turn off, so I rarely go there. However, it is very similar to the best pizzas I ate in Rome (ie, possibly the best food I've ever tasted), so they get big credit for that.

I don't think Shorty's has calamari.

I'll join in with the recommendations for Fritti, Shorty's and also Rosa's downtown location (I wish Rosa's was open on the weekend).

Another one I like is Baronda on Peachtree, a couple of blocks north of the Fox. Their pizza is pretty similar to Fritti's though maybe a step lesser in quality with the ingredients. The atmosphere is more laid back, though.

Rosa's East Cobb location is near my house and open on weekends.

We often go there on Friday nights. The pizza is good and so is the price! A medium pepperoni pizza ($10.25) provides large portions for a family of three. We're out of there for under $20, with beer and soft drinks. It's fine dining for these tough economic times.

I love Fritti and Shorty's! I especially love the "odd" combinations at Shorty's. I love the Tina Turner Pizza which is caramelized onions, raw onions, gorgonzola, goat cheese, toasted walnuts. They gave me a bottle of honey to drizzle over the pizza too. Outrageous!

If I just want a regular pizza, I just go to Mellow Mushroom. They make great pies too.

There is a lot of buzz around Varasono's. Can't wait for it to open. Varasano's Pizzeria - Buckhead - Atlanta, GA
