Hi, I need some advice on Fayette County. From reading the posts in this forum, it seems like most suggest Peachtree City. I would love to live in PTC but I need something that will get me in and out Atlanta within 30 minutes. I am also looking for new construction or a home built within the last two years. I have a special needs 15 year old and Exceptional Education programs are extremely important to me. So, my question is this... Which city within Fayette County would you recommend and why?

Brooks
Fayetteville
Inman
Peachtree City
Tyrone
Woolsey

The various cities in the county should all be equally good for your child's needs because the Fayette County School District runs all the public schools in Fayette County so the policies and programs will be the same. Of course many people favor one school over another even in the same school district but this system is one of the very best in the state.

Here is the website for the District - http://www.fcboe.org/ - you should check it out! They have a lot of information under Exceptional Children's Services that may help you make a decision if the schools are right for your 15 year old.

Peachtree city is nice but has not had much new construction in the past 2 years compared to other parts of the county. Also, the commute from PTC to Atlanta is 45 -60 minutes not the 1/2 hour you are looking for.

From the northern part of Fayette County you can get to Atlanta in 30 minutes.

Thanks you Marla for your response. do you suggest any other counties?

My daughter is now 19 years old (it took me 3 years to respond to this post )

My daughter has hydrocephalus. She has the mentality of a 7 year old and is unable to stay by herself. I'm interested in any and all activities for her as I am a single mom that works full time.
