I am moving to Atlanta in August just to experience a change. I move around a lot and have lived in loads of different countries. I quite like the idea of attending some kind of amateur dramatics group if anyone can advise me on a good one? I am really sociable but know it's a big city! I have just spent the last 2 years living in a small ski resort in the alps so it will be a big change! any advice people?? thanks! Emma

I believe Little 5 Points would be a good choice.

AREA MAP (http://www.l5p.com/areamap.html - broken link)

There are several posters that are more familiar with this area==but somewhere around Midtown/Inman Park/Candler Park you should find your niche.

You seem like you'd be a lot of fun. I'll get my mates together and we'll all hang out when you get here. I'm thinking Door 44.

Check out Yelp.com for Atlanta. I think they have meet-ups and such.

Search on meetup.com. You should be able to find an amateur dramatics group there. Another idea would be to attend some fine arts classes at one of the area universities; You should meet some wonderful people like that.

Atlanta is actually quite popular with British expats...I've met quite a few of them here over the years.

Little Five Point is a good place to look into. Also, you'll meet a lot of people in Midtown, which is where a lot of the nightlife of Atlanta is (Buckhead has a lot to, but since they tore all of it down for the Streets of Buckhead development, it's not as good).
