Hi guys,
First I want to say that I really appreciate this message board. It has lots of great information. We're planning a house hunting trip next month which unfortunately is going to become our only summer vacation this year b/c of our big move. We have 3 kids so I'm looking for family fun activites. My oldest is 8 and I want her to enjoy Atlanta since it will be her first time there. So far I definitely want to take them to Lake Lanier and Stone Mountain. Any other ideas?

How much time to you have for the activities. Stone mnt, Lake Lanier, coke, zoo, aqu are more or less 1/2 day each. Most likely more. How bout a trip to a pool? The alpharetta Ymca has a real nice outdoor pool. good for kids water slided and wont have to spend 5+ hours . THe Y does Metro Atlanta YMCA - 7 Day Guest Pass - 17 YMCA Locations to Choose From in Atlanta, Georgia (GA) guest passes not sure what it all includes

Pools are good. I'm looking for some shorter type activities like that. We'll take a couple days off to go to Stone Mountain and Lake Lanier, but most of our days there will be spent looking at houses. I need some ideas of some places to unwind and let the kids play after looking at houses. We just want to explore the areas around Cumming.

Keep in mind that summer afternoon in Ga will be in the 90+ temp range.

Home in alpharetta has a HUGE play stucture.
SlapShots.net -- Welcome a skate/blading jsut outside cumming
home There is a new ice rink scheduled to open in July

You might want to conceder putting the kids in day camp for the week, so you can get most of the house hunting done with out them running around, then bring them back on the last day when you do the final selection, when i reloc'ed i looked at dozens of house, then went back and re-looked the the final 5 i wanted to do a 2nd look at.

Forsyth County Government :: Parks and Recreation Department day camp & Safety Town
City of Alpharetta Website || Summer Camps

Also the Y does day camp at both the alpharetta Y and Forsyth Y's

Also school starts 2nd week of AUG, so try to plan to be in your house by then

Stars and Strikes in Forsyth has bowling and laser tag. There is also a bowling alley in Roswell. Some of my favorite parks in the area are Will's in Alpharetta, the Roswell Park off Woodstock Road and the park down on the river. You have the Alpharetta and Roswell community pools. There are a number of pottery places in the area. One is near downtown Alpharetta on Route 9, another over by Crabapple, and another one over near Windward.

Some other ideas:

Andretti's Karting on Route 9 Alpharetta
Ice Skating - Mansell Rd Alpharetta
River Tubing - Duluth Location (http://www.gorivertubing.com/Location.html - broken link)

If you are a member of lifetime fitness the one in Alpharetta has slides with their pool.
