Hi all, I will be coming down to Augusta a couple days after Christmas for a 6 month TDY. It was really short notice and the Staybridge Suites on Center West Pkwy was really the only place that offered what I was looking (kitchenette, wifi, etc) for on short notice. I've received mixed answers on how the area around the hotel is ranging from "pretty shady, find somewhere else to stay" to "that's a really decent area". What is your opinion on this place? I'm coming down from the Baltimore area so I'm sure it will still be better than where I'm coming from but I'd just like to be prepared. Thanks in advance!

I'm from augusta so believe me when I say that its a good area. Any where in west augusta is usually safe and sure there are some bad parts , but on the whole that area is safe.

I don't know why anybody would call the area near the hotel pretty shady. My only guess is they didn't perfer the large number of out of towners and people from Fort Gordon using the hotels. Like G-town said anywhere in West Augusta is usually safe. The ''that's a really decent area'' advice you received is more realistic.

I can't think of any bad areas located in West Augusta, there are only a few okay older apartment complexes.. West Augusta is similar to the Alpharetta area in Atlanta.
