Great to see that Paine College is making plans to go to the next level by creating graduate programs, raising admissions standards and increasing their research spending. Just think Augusta and the CSRA could have two great universities next to each other.

I think the community as a whole should embrace this plan as well as see it expand even further. I would love to see the campus expand further south than Wrightsboro Rd with the potential for a new stadium for football and baseball and tennis and such. If they buy the old solo cup factory along with the Castleberry factory on 15th and lower the 15th street bridge to street level and the removal of all but 2 of those train tracks, the community and especially that area would look a lot more attractive especially after the 15th street project is completed and sunset is removed. That area is the anchor for the east health sciences campus of GRU and combined with Paine could create an atmosphere in Augusta that only larger cities such Atlanta and Raleigh experience. Take care of Paine and it will take care of you. I also think with its proximity to GRU, the school should really exploit the schools health care programs. The opportunities are near endless for Paine, the school has the potential to become the University of Paine or Paine University and the next NC A&T.

Not to mention it would bring a near permanent young population to an area just outside of downtown Augusta which will only enhance it.

It would be awesome if Paine could be become another NC A&T. It would create a synergy for that part of town. I'm really excited about all the changes that are coming to Augusta over the next decade. By 2025-30, you won't be able to recognize the place!!
