Funny... where were those neighborhoods and their median incomes when the Augusta West center fell to the Augusta Exchange?

Augusta Exchange opened 1998 - 2000

Augusta West was strong prior to that... Original Location for Best Buy in Augusta, Multiplex Movie Theater, Dizzy Chicken Restaurant...

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. I haven't been here all my life. Anyways, Augusta's metro has grown since then, and can support more than it could then.

@cnd33...

I don't see this as a question of can these be supported... IMO it's more will they be supported by the citizens

when is the new theater by Costco going to open. Where is North Richmond? Is that the area along Riverwatch Parkway?

Kinder-Care hours are over, folks. Stop the bickering. Discuss the TOPIC only (as seen in the thread's 1st posting). Do not discuss each other or go off topic. See the TOS (again), please.

I think there's plenty of ground between the new Riverwatch theater, Regal 20, and Evans 14 that they'll all do just fine. I don't personally know of many friends or family from the SC side of the river who bother to drive all the way to Evans for a movie. I only do when Regal 20 is too busy to find parking or if I happen to be over there anyway. I certainly think the new one will poach a fair amount of business from Regal, and a smaller amount from Evans 14 (only because of the dining factor at the new one). I think many Aiken county folks will choose the new theater over the extra drive to Regal, but more dining options near Regal will keep it thriving anyway. The only worry is with it being the new one having the same parent company as the Evans theater. If the Evans one takes enough of a hit they would be more likely to cut their losses and close it, but I think it will be fine.

Augusta West is doing fine. The biggest vacancy is the theatre...but again that was mainly due to Regal relocating to get a Bigger location.

I totally agree! The last couple of times I went to the movies, had to go on a different day or a later time because of the shows selling out.

People say that attendance for movies is dwindling, but you wouldn't know it if you ever try to go to Regal 20 on a Friday or Saturday any time after 6 or 7....and any time at all on a holiday.
