The Mazda place on Gordon Highway has announced it is moving to Martinez. Personally I hate to see them go, but the motive can be understood. Having a bunch of car brands and consolidating service and office functions into one large dealership should help improve customer service and satisfaction. The downside is that Richmond County loses the opportunity to earn tax money and have folks shop locally. The Gordon Highway location seemed like a relic to me, all by itself but trying to compete. Who will follow them? What does the future promise for those buying a new car but hoping to keep the dealer close to home and help provide jobs for Richmond County residents?
