Phase 2 of the Augusta Common(Savannah River to Ellis) continues to gain traction. The Fairfield Inn by Marriott is under construction(next to the common) and the two elevated pedestrian bridges start construction soon( connecting the parking deck to Convention Center and hotel).

''Tourism officials on Thursday unveiled a long-range plan that calls for linking the Augusta Common to a riverfront marina, increasing public artwork in the city center and allowing visitors to tour downtown in rented golf cars.''

That looks really nice! Augusta is making great use of the riverfront.

I like the overall plan, I just hope unlike other plans this one is actually followed through on. Augusta has so much potential and the expansion of the Commons will do a lot of good for the city when it comes to development and job growth.

Every plan created since the Westobou(2009) has been followed through on.. They haven't completed everything, but have done a lot.

Westobou(2009)- The convention center, judicial center, kroc center, and AU university dorms have opened. The redevelopment of Sibley Mill and Miller theater are both moving forward. Heritage Pine opened in Laney Walker and Twiggs Circle is under construction in Bethlehem. Legacy at Walton Oaks replaced Underwood. Foundry Place is under construction and a mixed-income development will replace Cherry Tree. North Augusta is moving along with Project Jackson. The development at the Train depot site will be announced soon.

RC master plan(2010)- The Market at Windsor Spring phase 2 is under construction(Windsor Spring Town Center). There is several new business along Peach Orchard road(Peach Orchard Place). There is a retail center, more homes, and new K-8 school going up on Jimmie Dyess(Belair Town Center).

Downtown streetscape (January 2017). The city of Augusta voted for TSplost and they have to spend the $90 million for the projects by law.

The visitor plan released today didn't really create anything new. Just expand on existing ideas created before. The entire visitor plan released today probably won't all come to fruition, but phase 2 of the Augusta common will happen. $4 million was approved in the recent splost for Riverwalk improvements and trails.. Phase 2 of the Augusta Common has been discussed for years. The Fairfield Inn by Marriott under construction had 'hotel' listed on the site plans in the past. .

I'm assuming that you're referencing the Master Plan by the term Westobou

There are two different master plans...

The Westobou created for the urban core of Augusta/North Augusta
Master Plan | Augusta Tomorrow

The ASD created for Richmond County.

I like the way the plan handles the difference in elevation by easing up to the upper Riverwalk level. To me, the levee has always been a huge hindrance to riverfront development, and this does a good job of connecting the levels, if only for this small section. Not real clear what the building actually on the water will be. From the scale of that first drawing it looks as if it stretches at least halfway across the river.
