Around 5,000 ppl packed Riverwalk Augusta near the amphitheater for one of the hundreds of Tax Day Tea parties across the nation, making Augusta's one of the most attended rallies in the state. In fact, I believe Augusta's rally drew the largest crowd in the state after Atlanta's.

Apparently, Atlanta's had around 15,000. Where I used to live in Peachtree City (very conservative place) the crowd was around 1000.

For Augusta to draw 1/3 of the crowd that Atlanta's did is pretty impressive.

5,000 ppl didn't show up downtown. Barely 2,000 people showed up for the event. In a metro of 550k and a CSRA of 800k- 900k thats not impressive at all. People in richmond county didn't even want it to be downtown. They said since the columbia county young republicans were sponsoring it. It should have been in Evans at the library theatre.

The only people who showed up were from Columbia county and a few from Aiken county. Who would want to hear paul broun speak from oconee county.

As I was there, I can tell you that the biggest crowds showed up after 7pm... after the Chronicle reporters and news crews left. There were easily 5,000 ppl at the event. The entire amphitheater was packed as was the riverwalk area around it... the entire place was standing room only. That's impressive for any downtown event on a weekday schoolnight. There were people all over the metro area, not just columbia County. I talked with people from Aiken, Thomson, Hephzibah, and even a lady who drove from Crawfordville.
