We are moving to Evans very soon and are looking for recommendations on utilities. I looked and saw that there are a few trash companies, electric, and cable/net/phone companies to choose from. Does anyone have any thoughts either way about any particular company? What do you have, what do you like or don't like about it etc..

PS. For the trash company, we are looking for something with recycling.

Thank you,
Liz

We use Augusta disposal and recycling. For yard waste you buy tags that are $1 per bag of yard waste. You can buy the tags at the circle k gas stations, when they have them. They have been out of them for a few weeks now. For cable and internet we have Knology.

Thank you so much for your reply. I always wonder about who to use when we get to a new area. It is nice to have someone who uses their services, give their opinion.

They're all about the same and constantly advertise. They easily add up to $200 to $300 a month though for an average 2000 sq ft house bec of heat in the winter and A/C when the heat is not on.

Augusta Disposal and Recycling is about $65 per quarter for 2 pick ups daily. Don't know where you moving from but no recycling here, so twice a week comes handy.
Comcast is better for cable in my opinion, though their customer service is not really good. Watch for electrical and gas rates that fluctuate with the market.

No sense in starting a new post but i have about the same question. Our family is moving to GA very soon and are looking at a home to rent in the Richmond county area very close to Ft.Gordon (we're military) Garbage is included in the rent of the home. How much would you guesstimate for gas, electric, and water for a family of 3 in a 1500sq ft home? My husband and i have never rented seeing as to how we're military we've always lived on base housing so we really need to figure out if we can afford the utilites of the home we wish to rent first before committing. thanks in advance.

Richmond County handles utiities a bit differently, I think trash removal there is done by the county. I would not move to that part of Richmond county with school age kids but that is just an opinion.

How do you know what part of richmond county. The person is even talking about.

This was the quote ''Our family is moving to GA very soon and are looking at a home to rent in the Richmond county area very close to Ft.Gordon (we're military)''

There are alot of areas and neighborhoods in richmond county. That are very close to Ft. Gordon. Most of the neighborhoods that very close to Ft. Gordon. Are zone for ARC, Cross Creek, and Hephzibah. All of them are good schools. If you live on Ft. Gordon you got to ARC. The neighborhoods on Gordon Hwy (Belfair Lakes and back going past jimmie dyess). Are in South West Augusta. They go to Richmond Academy unlike the other gordon hwy neighborhoods. Who are zoned for other high schools. There are several new neighborhoods on Jimmie Dyess or Gordon hwy past Jimmie Dyess. Good schools in that area.
