Also wanted to mention that the culture is of it's own here, definitely different than Seattle (more toned down than what you'll see in U-district, Capitol Hill, Fremont). It's a great culture, very laid back and enjoyable. It is still a little adjustment because Austin is of it's own and so is Seattle! I loved lots about Seattle, but the weather wasn't for me.

Traffic isn't nearly as bad as everyone says, compared to Tacoma and Seattle. It's all relative to where people come from. I drove in Seattle traffic for 20 years and moved here in April, and have yet to come to a complete stop on the highway or have stop and go traffic for more than 5 minutes. Not to say it doesn't happen here, but in my experience traffic isn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. There are times when I've slowed from 55 MPH to 25 MPH but it's only been for 15 min or so. There are no HOV lanes. LOL! Austinites are much friendlier drivers on the whole, and I don't see nearly as many people on the freeway zooming and cutting in and out of lanes to get ahead.

Ha! The I-5 comes to a complete stop at pretty much any time of day around the Tacoma Dome! I'm glad to near you say that as the Tacoma/Seattle traffic is no fun!!
