Hi everyone! We are thinking of moving to Austin in the near future. We currently live in a suburb of Portland, Oregon and we are so tired of the weather. I have 3 very active kids (8 year old twin boys and a 3 year old daughter)...who need to be outside running and enjoying the outdoors. We feel very stiffed living in the cloudy rainy weather in the PNW. My question is: Are there planned communites near downtown Austin (15-20 minutes away) that are in a good school district? I searched online, but get confused...so I thought I'd ask you all... thanks in advance for your help.

Travis Country is probably the closest. Then Legend Oaks & Circle C. All have good schools. Travel time is about that during the middle of the day, but probably double that during rush hour.

Is the job downtown? We relocated from Vancouver Washington last year, so I can compare the two cities REALLY well. Traffic here is MUCH worse that Portland. I would look to live as close to work as possible. Feel free to PM me with questions.

Where will your job be located?

& it's best not to research (only) "school districts".....it's best to also research schools (or school paths). But w/o knowing where your job is located & how much you're looking to spend on rent or mortgage, it's difficult to offer opinions on neighborhoods.

Thanks everyone! My husband will be a commercial real estate broker, mainly working in and area the downtown area. We want a family friendly neighborhood, with a community pool that won't be too far for my husband to commute. I want a good school district for my kids. We are looking at spending no more than $600,000.

Thanks!
