Question Austin to Waco without a car

As far as I can tell, my options for getting to the Waco area and back to Austin without a car are two: Greyhound or Amtrak to McGregor.

Getting to the Austin Amtrak station is easier for me than getting to Greyhound, but I'm wondering whether Amtrak leaves from Austin and McGregor on time rather than experiencing the long delays friends have had when taking Amtrak in other parts of the country. If anyone has recent experience on Amtrak, I'd love to hear it.

I'd also like to hear of recent experiences traveling to and from Austin on Greyhound or suggestions anyone has for other ways of getting to and from Waco without a car. I'll be making the trip every month or so indefinitely.

Thanks.

I've ridden Amtrak many times and yes, there are delays sometimes, but not routinely. My husband rode Amtrak this winter from Austin to Ft. Worth and he did not have any delays coming or going.

I have a friend who rides Amtrak to and from Ft. Worth monthly and have never heard her complain of delays - she may have them every time, but I've not heard her complain about them
