Just what we need, another #1 spot:

To determine the next boom towns in the U.S., Forbes, with the help of Mark Schill at the Praxis Strategy Group, took the 52 largest metro areas in the country (those with populations exceeding 1 million) and ranked them based on various data indicating past, present and future vitality.

I swear, did anyone see the NYT article this weekend about all the college-educated young people moving to DETROIT!

That is where the future boom will be, in a place where smart young people are able to met, network, and create (and stretch a dollar). Over the next 20+ years the Sunbelt will fade and the places that conventional wisdom says are "done" will boom.

How could they resist? Look at all the homes you can buy for less than $1,000.

I'm still holding out for when they actually will pay people to move there, like in Alaska. Then maybe I'll go. Can you enter negative numbers into Zillow yet?

funny thing is that is EXACTLY the kind of vibe, not plot, but vibe I want to bring out in one of my pet projects i've been tinkering with for years. Has nothing to do with the apocalypse, its actually a love story with a social studies backdrop.
