Ricky Maze. He does beautiful work. He's done a lot in my house, though not crown molding. He is a finish carpenter. And his pricing is fair - no rip-offs. 512-771-3663

I'm curious, how do finish carpenters like him operate? Do you purchase all materials on your own (baseboards, moldings, etc.) and he then installs, paints, etc., or does he also source the materials for you?

Why dont you get a 'chop saw' and do it yourself? Its fairly easy to do.
I put my own crown molding in my house, in my bathroom, and I used a pneumatic brad gun to put them up.

There are enough woodworking shows on PBS, or yhou can borrow at your Public Library, to show you how. (I even have one DVR'd that shows the angles to do it, if you want to email me, so you can pup the molding 'flat' on the table, instead of making a ***, like I did, to cut mine).

Unless your not the adventuruos type... (Just remember, there are no such things as a 90 degree angle in ANY HOUSE!! LOL.. Thats just a falacy, cause every house settles and every wall goes out of plumb, even if its brand new, its not going to be a 90, sheesh! My home is over 100 years old, so that was exciting to do ).

I wish you well...

Jesse

I believe they can buy the materials at contractor rates and you get the bill for reimbursement, but there is flexibility in that if you want to buy it yourself. Of course, the carpenter will install. Painting depends on the person. Just ask.

Great, thanks for the info, it didn't occur to me that they are purchasing materials at contractor rates.

Turns out I've repped you recently, I tried
