Thank you, Officer Padron, for making the ultimate sacrifice.

I don't know how many of you made it out to the procession, but I thank every one of you. My partner and myself attended the funeral and it was a pretty emotional experience. It was my first police funeral since being on the job and it was humbling. There were a thousand cops there easy and I expected that. Jaime was good people and you expect a lot of people to show up for a man of that cailbur. What I didn't expect were the crowds of people lined up on the side of the road waving flags and holding signs. My partner and I drove past miles of you and I'm not ashamed to say that I was so overcome with emotion that I wept. Seriously, those of you that stood out there were a part of something that had to make Jaime's girls think that their daddy was the most important man in the world and that is amazing. It comforts me to know that if something were to happen to me on the job, my kids might see something like that for me. I know you were inconvenienced. I know you had other things you could be doing and I know that while some of you were stuck in traffic, many of you were out there on your own accord. Thank you. Your actions today went a long way to restoring my belief in the good in people an it makes me proud to work with you and for you.

Me neither, and there's nothing wrong with that. My housemate had turned on the t.v., and I bawled through the entire memorial. I can't stop thinking about those poor little girls, without their daddy. Breaks my heart.

If you ask me, there is no need to apologize.
I may have been, and yes I was stuck in traffic, but at the end of the work day, I got to go home...Office Padron didn't.
It made me really proud to see all the people paying their respects to this outstanding person. For the longest time, I couldn't figure out if people in this town actually cared for or even appreciated the job that police officers perform everyday for this city.

RIP
