I wish they'd break out Mac's Fine Arts Academy students. Glad to see LASA getting props.

methodology? I would no more rely on these lists then I do "america's most livable cities" or "nation's best colleges" Their primary purpose is to sell magazines and drive web traffic.

Westlake and Westwood have been on that list for several decades; switching rankings, one higher than the other every couple of years. Those two schools and Highland Park are three of the highest ranked regular public high schools (non-magnet) in the country.

Which lands more than half of the people asking relocation-to-Austin questions right here, On. This. Board. Powerful stuff... right, wrong or indifferent.

All three of those schools are very good, but the methodology leaves a lot to be desired. I know they have to use something standard so they can try to compare schools all over the country, but it's a pretty lousy way to rank schools in my opinion.

The methodology is questionable. And it seems that data gaps run rampant.
