Hello!

I am looking for anyone in the Austin area that would be willing to speak with me about getting in to Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock. I have a background in industrial/organizational psychology and assessments. There are several positions I feel I could be of value in, and would just like someone to talk to about employment at Dell. I'm not asking for a job, just asking for a mentor or if anyone knows a resource I could use.

Thank you to all who consider assisting me in this endeavor.

Why do you want to work for Dell so much? For over twenty years it has by and large been a terrible place to work. Any image it had at one time as a good place to work was solely due to the value of stock options when the company was doing well.

High stress? Check.
Care about employees? No.
Ruthless? Yes.
High turnover? Check check check.

I doubt if anything has changed now they are not a public company.

Well, I'm most interested in working for Dell because they have a couple of positions (namely the University Relations positions) that I feel are an excellent fit with my background and experience.

I guess I'm not entirely partial to Dell, it's just that I know that in such a large corporation it's sometimes easier to get connected to a position when you are connected to other employees there. Thank you for your feedback.

I agree that if you want to work there it helps to have some relevant info. People CAN do well there. But you will work for a company that is tough on its people, isn't known for innovation, and has historically managed its headcount like the weather. Maybe some pressure will ease without the need to report quarterly earnings.

Good luck.
