Hi! We are trying to find an affordable neighborhood in South Austin (Buda, Manchaca, Southpark Meadows, etc.) that has nice, newer homes in the $225k-$275k range and has a Community Pool. With Texas summers, a pool is a must for us! We also need it to feed into a good elementary school. Trails, parks and neighborhood social events would also be great! We have lived in Plum Creek in Kyle before and prefer not to move there due to the number of rental homes.

We appreciate any suggestions!! Thank you!!

The Knolls of Slaughter Creek is a nice development that my wife and I live in. It's off 1626, heading to Manchaca, just off 35 near SouthPark Meadows. The houses are priced from about $225,000 to $290,000, I'd say, and are about 10 to 15 years old. There's a pool, a little playground area, a greenbelt behind some of the houses, and lots of community social events, mostly centered around the kids. I've heard that Akins High is not as good as some other Austin high schools, but that's totally third-hand info that I really don't know about. No idea about any of the other schools that support our neighborhood. It might be worth checking out.

I'm pretty sure there are houses for sale here because I see them when I walk around. I can think of 3 or 4 with signs in their front yards right now, and there are lots of other streets in the development that I don't travel on regularly. So I would guess that there might be about 10 for sale right now. You may want to drive in here (Wayne Riddell Loop off 1626) and just see what signs you see in the yards. Good luck!
