Does anyone know if/where you can find a rental TV, refridgerator, washer & dryer supplier etc in Austin?

And what they charge, plus any other useful info on the subject??? Thanks!

Why would you want to rent? Renting electronics is usually not cost effective, unless you are talking about a very short period of time (like, maybe 3 months). Otherwise, anyone who has the means would just buy. A washer or a dryer is like $300. Then, when you move away, you can sell it on craigslist for half price. The only thing where you might have difficulty unloading your used item would be the fridge...

Exactly. The refridgerator is the main expense and main loss. I have checked all the costs and re-sales. We will be relocating abroad again in 18 months so the rental expense will be about equal to the loss, minus the hassle of having to wait on craigslist buyers (and the many no-shows!) Plus no repair worries.Second-hand is cheaper of course but means lots of time spent looking and shifting. So we'd like to rent!

In the UK we paid around $150 a month for brand new set of appliances inc. washer/dryer/dishwasher/fridge/tv for a year, from rentaldeals.co.uk. It saved us hours in shopping around and re-selling.

Anyone know if this can be done here?

PS I shoud point out that the $150 a month was calculated at the exchange rate of £1 = $2, but although the rate makes the amount double it should effectively be cheaper here as appliances are cheaper....I think

You can rent appliances from places like Aaron's or Rent a Center, which are located throughout the city, (just do a local search online for locations nearest to you) you rent weekly or monthly or in some cases pay something like 90 days same as cash. I would say of the two Aaron's seems to be less expensive. But for $150.00 per month for all those appliances I doubt it can be done that cheaply. I would suggest buying a television from Walmart or Target on sale for less than $100.00 which is the cheapest of all and easiest to resale on craigslist (I purchased my 20' flatscreen television on sale from Target for $77.00 along with a DVD player on sale for $29.00) just check the sunday Statesman for sale flyers for the best deals.

And then you may be able to rent everything else you want (previously used rather than new) from one of these places for around $150.00 give or take a few dollars.

What you pay @ Aarons you'll get ripped off bad!! I mean making those sleazy payments.

Go on craigslist and buy some used ones.
