Yellow light durations _should_ be calibrated to the speed limit of the road.

Parmer is totally inconsistent in this regard - also dependent on time of day. I've had a couple "oh crap" moments...

There was a fatal accident today on North Parmer, in front of Davis Spring and the RRISD Stadium.

Completely flat, open 60mph area(with very few people going the speed limit)...no reason for an accident there except bad driving(PLENTY of that along Parmer! )

Exactly. The question is, what will be done about it? How many more fatal accidents will occur before a solution is enacted?

I drove by that accident yesterday at around lunch time going South on Parmer. The only way that I could see that being a head-on collision is if someone was making a left turn into Davis Spring from the South bound side of Parmer (or I guess trying to make a left turn out of Davis Spring on to Parmer) and didn't notice a car going 60mph directly toward them on the North bound side. The South side of Parmer was completely clear with no vehicles or debris from the accident so it all happened on the North bound side at the entrance to Davis Spring. It will be interesting to see the actual details of how it happened.

I live off Parmer and agree that it is incredibly dangerous. Several large neighborhood thoroughfares dump out into Parmer without signal lights. At those intersections cars race across Parmer when there is a break in the traffic and then stack two or three deep at the median until they can cross the rest of the street. Very, very dangerous to cars, bikes and pedestrians - especially since the traffic whizzing by is traveling 60-70 miles per hour.
