Does anyone have kids in the LTSD? What has your experience been like? I know Eanes is rated higher but we won't be in that price point and prefer the Spicewood/ Lakeway areas for our budget and just like the general feel of the areas.

I think the Spicewood areas we are looking at are zoned for LTMS, LTHS and Bee Cave Elementary.

The Lakeway homes are zoned for various elementary schools and LTHS.

They all seem to be rated 9 or 10, but what has your personal experience been like? What are the athletics and extracurricular activites like?

If you're looking at the Spicewood area, you would go to the new school, West Cypress Hills Elementary, not Bee Cave. I have a daughter at Bee Cave. We have many friends who got zoned to WCH from Bee Cave Elem when it opened this year.

The schools are all very good and the entire district as a whole is ranked very high, basically right behind Eanes.

Is that right? I wish that the real estate postings would update this. They are all saying Bee Cave Elementary. Is West Cypress a good school?

It's a new school, so "good" will have to be subjective. It only opened this school year. They took 40% of Bee Cave Elementary and about 10% of Serene Hills Elementary so with both those schools being good, I can't image WCH isn't good. The principal shadowed BCE for a few months last year before opening the school. I know the admin over there as our daughters went to school since they were 3. Everything is brand new and high-tech... many of the teachers were brought over within the district...

As for the real estate listings not being correct, that's just a lazy agent and/or an agent from outside the district who doesn't know what's going on.

Have you been to the area? Driven by the schools?

The reason I ask is that I too was undecided between Eanes, LT, and RR (Westwood) prior to moving to the area based on scores. I ultimately decided to move to Dripping (and couldn't be happier, although it may be too rural for some).

In any event, my freshman had a JV tennis tourney at LT High about 3 weeks ago. That was my first time on the LT High campus and I was a bit overwhelmed. Now, I'm a big city guy, went to big city schools (Nebraska undergrad and another large public school for grad school) but I felt this campus was too big, personally.

The other issue I'd have with LT High is that even though my kids are all good athletes, I'm not sure any of them would be good enough to make the teams at that school given the size/competition and their individual abilities.

In addition to the varied characteristics of each of the districts (all of whom have one high school save for Round Rock), it will also depend greatly on what you're looking for. To put it into Seattle terms, Westwood feeders would be more like living in Bellevue, Eanes and Lake Travis feeders more like living in Redmond, and Dripping Springs more like living in Bothel.

Oh really. Round Rock is the only district wig more than one HS?

Interesting since...

1. RRISD wasn't even on the OP's radar.
2. AISD has a ton

But you realtors love to pump your profitable easy sell hoods.

I was responding to the gentleman mentioning his particular experience in the post above my response. And of the Districts he mentioned, RR is the only one with more than one high school.
