In the meantime I-35 still sucks. Won't matter if all thru traffic is diverted to 130 - the stretch between Georgetown & Buda with still be stop & go with locals at rush hours, and it is only going to get worse.

More lanes are needed - and not just ONE in both directions. Back in the '80s when the 3rd lane was being added in north Austin, I said that was not enough THEN.

Also it would be smart to add TWO lanes in each direction on 130 RIGHT NOW.

Howard Station is on the easternmost edge of that property...still got to get to it! Those quarries aren't going to disappear.

No, the context of the conversation was the mixed us/transit PUD that is (eventually) going to go into the 6000 acre Robinson property.

You are correct - consider the former quarry at Stone Lake on Braker Lane:



...or the former 1950s quarry site in Northwest Hills, now the long time location for...

Agreed, colony park is a new mixed use going up at johnny morris rd and loyola

the city is heavily involved which means they will probably screw it up trying to make it affordable.

agave is just along 969 and there are lots of large tracts as you go east.

Mixed use subdivisions would be awesome. This is one area where the city can make things happen that the free market couldnt.

Uh, what?

The biggest impediment to mixed use IS the city in the form of local zoning ordinances.

The free market would build according to demand. Plenty of people would happily pay for it (and do in the places where the city has allowed or encouraged it)

Yes, the Robinson Ranch that is bound by Parmer...the Howard Station is on the very EDGE(eastern) of that large tract of land. That little thing called IH-35 is within spittin' distance.

Yep...but it's one heck of a drive to the Howard Station that was described as "in the middle" of the Robinson property. Not exactly walkable.

One can see those quarries from outer space. They aren't going to 'play out' in my lifetime.
"Quarry Lake" is a speck in comparison.
