Well, then...nothing more to discuss. No lawsuit needed!

And for those of you not following along, it's no longer a "Concealed" License but a License to Carry. Open or concealed in accordance with the 30.06/30.07 statutes and other applicable restrictions.

Seems the people have spoken:
In 1994, the citizens of Texas approved a non-binding resolution to allow the carrying of concealed weapons by licensed individuals. George W. Bush signed the law in '95 and Texas joined the then 22 other states that had already passed such legislation.

Just because folks choose NOT to carry, it doesn't follow that they are against the right for others to do so.

Default Austin guns kill just like "Chicago" guns...

Looks like another person in Austin got unlucky last night: Downtown Austin shooting: Police name 'person of interest' | www.mystatesman.com

Of course, no responsible gun owner did this (so far as we know) but that still leaves a LOT of irresponsible gun owners out there; maybe more of them than of the former. People who insist on their right to carry a gun for no real purpose need to realize that lots of others will be doing it too, and the advocates "own" part of that problem.

You are correct.

These Wild West predictions failed 20+ years ago, they failed with the Open Carry law that took effect 7 months ago, and the CoA will fail in this case. Obey the law.

The elected state legislature passed the law, and the majority approve it, so deal with it. This is the free state of Texas, Not California, NYC, or Chicago.

The only paranoia exhibited is by those who fear the law-abiding citizen with a government license.

"Most" - what a bunch of ignorant hogwash.

I've already been present at a mass shooting.........on August 1st, 1966 - right here in Austin, Texas.

Yep, seems a lot of the newbs here don't know about that. And the fact that Ann Richards lost to George W. because she vetoed the first CHL bill passed by the democrat legislature.

Please tell me where you got this crystal ball that tells you all CHL carriers will always abide by the law. As I see it, feeling the need to carry a concealed weapon on you at all times means that you don't believe in trust being a two-way street, which sounds quite paranoid to me. What could you possibly need one for other than to assuage your fragile sense of security?

People who insist on their right to carry do so because it is their constitutional right in accordance with the 2nd amendment. While nothing more needs to be said, people carry so that they have a chance to protect themselves and possibly others should the need arise. Hopefully it never does but stories like this remind us that it might.

If it turns out that this shooter was in fact a licensed carrier, you will have something to complain about. Otherwise, I have no idea what your point is.
