Fellow Texas considering relocating to Austin from North Texas. Dream home would be 1 story Austin Stone home 3,000 - 4,000 square feet with easy access to 290. Do these neighborhoods exist? Empty nesters - Appreciate any / all ideas.

I'm assuming eastern 290 heading out toward Manor? I kind of doubt it, mainly for the sqft requirement, I could be wrong though. If you mean western 290 toward Cedar Valley or Dripping Springs, possibly but it will cost a pretty penny. 290 through much of Austin proper is either a tollroad, multiplexed with I-35, or multiplexed with 71. Those areas don't offer anywhere near the sqft requirements.

Why does it need to be on 290?

Thanks for the reply.

A couple of clarifications: It doesn't have to be on 290W - how about "easy access to" 290W within a reasonable drive time. Price range $450-$650K. As of now any ideas on an area(s) to look would be appreciated. Hope this helps. No desire to be in the city itself - a nice suburb with amenities ( golf ) and conveniences ( access to groceries, etc ) would be group. We'll engage a realtor as we get closer - we're checking out areas via the web to familiarize ourselves with the options. Thanks again!

My ultimate guess is your best hope will be in Bee Cave (off 71 and getting to 290 is.. ..fair..), Cedar Hill, or Dripping Springs.

I’m thinking you want the “desirable” 290 which would be 290/71 out near and west of oak hill and not the more middle income 290 East toward Manor. I like the idea of oak hill but not the traffic. Anything further west if that I don’t know a lot about. The prices of the homes in oak hill seem on the lower side, but look nice (from whet I’ve seen) and the jones aren’t packed in on top of each other. The area should appreciate given the good schools

Will be tough to get that size (3,000 ft+) for that price, though. Maybe the small end size for the upper end price ($450-$650K).
