Hello, My husband and I are seriously thinking of relocating from Las Vegas to Austin. He is currently an AD and Football coach for a Catholic High School out here. We now have 2 small kids and want a change to raise our children in. My question is this.....

If he is currently at a private Catholic school I would use those connections to find a position at such in Texas. Very seldom will an outsider (from out of the state so to say) will get a position right off the bat at a local public school district as the head coach and/or AD . Most have to come up thru the ranks and be pretty known in the area for what they have done. Just what I know from friends that are coaches and principals. If he can get on in a smaller school district w/ lots of promise to be able to move up to head coach/AD then that may be the way to go. But stay away from too small of areas/towns that make it hard to get on if your not from the area. Or look in the larger cities and their suburbs to have more of a chance. I know my bil turned down a job offer in a really nice town here in Texas as he knew my sis, a teacher, would be viewed as an "outsider" even though she is a native Texan and would have a hard time getting on. As this place was heavily German and Czech and she was neither nor a "hometown" girl.
