Hi. Can anyone recommend a good pediatrician for my son (8 yrs old)? We live off of 620 but haven't seen many clinics around but the Austin Regional Clinics. Are those pretty good? I want a dr. that takes their time with their patients and isn't too busy trying to treat kids like a drive thru and serve them and rush them out. Thanks!

We go to Dr. Paige Suffredini at the Austin Diagnostic Clinic across from North Austin Medical Center. She is absolutely the best doctor I've ever had. I simply can not say enough good things about her. She has never rushed us and will always take time to answer questions or just play with my kids.

BTW, we live in Steiner Ranch (620 & 2222) and it takes up about 20 minutes to get there.

Austin Regional Clinics are good...I like that they have an after hours clinic with on-call pediatricians.

Just wanted to add why this is important. When your baby starts running a fever Friday afternoon or on a Saturday (which mine invariably did), you can see a pediatrician that has access to his/her records or better yet, may even be their own doctor on call for that weekend.

Our ARC doctor is Dr. Prochnow. He's wonderful.

Not sure of where you live exactly, but we use Dr. Bell on 38th Street, near the Heart Center. She is somewhat younger, but is very patient and caring and my girls love her. She is also very accepting of alternative choices to some of the 'routine' stuff they do these days.

the office # is 512-451-5161

My kids see Dr. Lowry at ARC Far West. I love ARC. Same day appointments, after-hours clinic! It really helps. They also rarely run late. I dearly loved my first ped but you would often spend an hour plus in the waiting room!

ARC is great. My 6 yr old and 4 yr old have never gone anywhere else. Other posters have said most of the great things about ARC but one, they can do stitches and lab work so that you do not have to go to the hospital or another clinic. It is nice to not have to go to the E.R for a three stitch, or x-ray type of injury. I know this due to myself and not my children. I am so much more of a liability!
The kids see Dr. Alcorn and have seen Dr. Edwards both are awesome!

Another bump to ARC! We go to the SW one on Brodie and love Dr. Mouser. But ARC is great for all the reasons stated by others. Weekends, after hours, same day appts, etc. etc.

Just wanted to add that Austin Diagnostic Clinic's new pediatric and family practice center (where our doctor is - see earlier post) also has on-site lab and x-ray facilities as well as after hours and weekend care, an urgent care center for minor emergencies, and a walk-in clinic.
