Ours was up by 30k last year in 1A, but we hadn't seen the kind of stagnation we've seen this year. Will be most definitely protesting this year.

I've got no plans! What I meant is that there are a ton of people waiting for prices to fall in 1B, I'm not sure (unless we're talking full on depression) that prices will go under 400 for a "good" 1B house.

I gotta house located between North Loop and 45th North-South and between Burnet Rd. and N. Lamar East-West. The property appraisal has increased $130,000 in just two years. That is just unbelievable. I don't see any good news in rising appraisals or taxes. It's getting to the point that I won't be able to lease it anymore and I'll be forced to sell it. I wanted to keep it for my son but with appraisals going through the roof as well as property taxes, that doesn't look likely. Wah-Wahhhhhh!

Appeal the appraisal every single year. Could you move in and take the homestead exemption? That will limit the increase on appraised value for some taxing units to 10%

Homeboy - I agree. Contest. The gravy train is over for the tax appraisal office.

Given the current housing market, should any appraisal increase be appealed?

The houses in our neighborhood are selling for a bit more than last year, at least the few that I am aware of. There may be some downturn, though, since I only get a very small snapshot.

Also, if your house was affected by the homeowners 10% cap, you could see your appraised value come down, but your taxable value still increase.

Unless they all go down (unlikely!) EVERYONE should appeal. What a message that would be....
