Where do you live now?

That's great to hear. I'm glad you finally found "Home". I still say you should of been patient w/ Colorado. Spring, summer & fall is what Colorado is worth! Survive the winter and you'll be happy for the rest of the year.

Oh, still here in Great ol Austin

I second that about Colorado...I miss the Spring, Summer and Fall there. Even winter a little...A good snowfall now and then is refreshing and beautiful!

They don't drive to crazy in Colorado Springs, I liked it there, but lost bid on house, and could not secure good job. Snow is only good if it is "every now and then" I cannot imagine the horror of Austin drivers on ICE...OMG.

Not to worry. The entire city shuts down when there's ice.

Stinks this year it was only close calls. I wish we did get some ICE storms. I love watching the news on my ICE vacations here @ home

Love Roses - Going to Denver in June. What park/national park would you recommend for camping around the Denver area?

Back to the OP....

Quote:
I see a lot of these (though, I wouldn't say half...) are alcohol related.
I heard on the news this morning that Texas is #5 in the country for the amount of alcohol related deaths on the roadways. Which, is bad, but not as bad as 2006 when we were #1 Texas Drunk Driving Statistics

I wanted to ask this again - to see if anyone knew....

Are the laws not particularly tough here on drinking and driving? Does TX have an open container law?

Jenbar - I've lived here for 30 years and Texas has cracked down on drinking and driving considerably in the last 10-15 years. And yes, there is an open container law. It hasn't been in effect that long. Had to give up my combat can for the drive home - just as traffic got worse and I could have used it. Penalties for DWI have gotten much stiffer too. I don't know why Texas ranks so high considering you have states like Louisiana that have drive through daquiri barns. It could be sheer numbers - Texas is a pretty big state. I think the article cited California as well and of course they are the two most populous states, right?

Rocky Mountain National Park is the first one that comes to mind. I think the Roosevelt(?) National Forest is another one.
