I have a property in Elgin (2.5 acres with mobile home in Wilbarger Creek estates), and am looking to move back. It is not within the city limits, and I want to know if I need building permits outside the city limits? The area that my propoerty is in is pretty rural, and I want to know if there are any restrictions to building a few out buildings on my property.

Any info would be appreciated.

Call your county. They will be able to answer your questions. I'm outside any city limts as well and when I had some questions I called the county. They had the answers for me..I did not need any permit to put up out buildings as long as I followed any setbacks/restrictions in my legal documents.
I'm in Travis county btw.

I agree that you need to contact the county. You need to find out if you're "allowed" to put perminant structures on the property or if they have to be moveable. They'll tell you everything and are usually fairly nice.
