OK, so I have to ask. Are cowboy boots totally lame and unfashionable in Austin? Here in Cleveland, when I wear them, they are sort of cool and trendy. Kinda throwback and unique. I'm thinking that in Austin, they would be sort of cheezy and touristy. Too bad, because I have a killer pair that I got for $40 at a thrift store...and I love the way they look on me

There's not a thing wrong with cowboy boots, hon. Wear 'em and be proud! If folks don't like it, it's their problem. Honestly, I think it would be refreshing to see more people wearing them.

I don't see many people wearing them, but I also don't think anyone would care/think less of you if you did. Austin is like that - one of the great things about the area!

I have a nice pair of boots on right now, but I am afraid I didn't get them for $40 .

Boots, in general, are probably more of a 'dress up' item in Austin. You will see them in weddings here a lot, and anytime you go out dancing (two-stepping, anyway). Cavendar's Boot City keeps up a brisk boot business at two locations in Austin, so someone is wearing them .

Thanks! I just thought I'd lighten things up a bit...I'll wear anything if it looks good on me
