The picture of the person leaping from the building should be removed. In any death, be it suicide, car accident, murder, whatever...there are family and friends to consider. Any joking about the cost of the condo, blah, blah, blah...should be removed as well.

It's bad enough some of the deaths make front page news in BIG BOLD LETTERS. Just saying that some of what is said in a forum or on the front page is more trauma to the system of those mourning.

It might not be now but later the family does a search on their loved ones name and they run across this forum. Put your self in their shoes.

Maybe some of you appreciate humor while experiencing the death of a loved one but I, for one, never did.

Oh well...off my soap box now.

I live at the 360 condos and I was advised this morning that it was a boyfriend of a resident who left a note behind before he jumped...

My wife's office faces 360. She didn't see him actually jump but did see the cops picking up body parts with trash bags.

I totally agree with not taking this in a joking manner. Of course the first amendment is important, and I would never tell people NOT to say something. I would, however, encourage people to think about how words can hurt and belittle, and think of the golden rule: if this were your father or brother, would you want someone joking about it??

I agree. In the rush to humor, we should perhaps think a little bit longer when the issue is someone's death.

Just a bit of black humor.....sometimes we can get too serious too.....had several close family members recently pass, so I know all about heartache and such.....My concern is that someone would find CD their main conduit for communicating such things....this is just a forum..anyone chat up neighbors about this? Go to 360 and console any residents?
Easy just to type on a public forum, far harder to actually get out and deal with the reality itself..........

People who jump like that lack connections, and the internet and such help create that...
we don't communicate enough face-to-face anymore.....if you want to take this serious, go talk/chat up your neighbors more often, especially the ones you have never met....join local
volunteer organizations....Austin was just ranked near the bottom per charity giving/joining......spend less time on forums, faux communicating with people you will never meet, and befriend and love the neighbors you never talk to, and friends you haven't met yet......perhaps then you'll keep others who would have comtemplated such a thing from doing the same, and feel much better about yourself in the process.....

Here is a link if you want to volunteer to prevent further occurences of this in Austin, and a number to call per helping...

I take it that means you're not going to remove the picture, even though one friend of the deceased has already found this thread and was hurt, at a very traumatic time, by "just a bit of black humor".

I agree, have some respect, this isn't a joking matter.
If my wife and I would have remained in Austin, the 360 would have been on the top our own list along with Spring.

There's dark humor and there's poor taste and that picture really falls into the latter category.
