Austin, TX is one of the ragweed pollen hotspots? How was it this year? Is it finished by now - end of October?

It peaks in October but may continue producing pollen until the first freeze.

Ugh!

Says, the weeds usually pollinate in late July, peaking in October, and may continue to produce pollen until early November or until the first freeze.

That's like nearly 3 months...or 25% of the year!

Ragweed is my only allergy (that I know of), and I usually feel it about 2-4 weeks per year. However, that could be any time from October - Dec. But it's usually a short spurt, and when it's gone it tends to stay gone. That's just me, though.

Mold is extremely high right now and Red Berry Juniper pollen has blown in from the Texas panhandle with these cold fronts we have been getting.

October is the peak month for ragweed and it tapers off into Dec. But current pollen counts are not reporting any ragweed.

This photo is ragweed, many people mistake other plants for it. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...misiifolia.jpg

Goldenrod is frequently blamed for hay fever, but simply happens to have a showy flower that blooms about the same time. Goldenrod is entomophilous, i.e. insect-pollinated. Its pollen is heavy and sticky, and cannot become airborne.

2-4 weeks is NOT bad!

But I wonder if you are an exception?

I always had bad ragweed allergies up in the Midwest (Michigan)...but for a good 5 weeks or so...pretty solidly.

I'd always imagined it would have to be worse if I were in Texas, with the longer ragweed season. Wonder if anyone can confirm that?

My allergies are mostly done this month... but just another 2 months before Cedar Fever! I'm looking for an allergist this time!

The last time we were in Austin was last March, and my son got totally stuffed up and congested. What's the allergy happening in March?

In March we were suffering with Live Oak and we'd just recovered from Cedar.
