I'm going to jump ship and sign up for U-Verse. Lifelong Austinites have no clue what they are missing without Comcast. One of the few annoying drawbacks of living in Austin is Time Warner Cable.

Hah. NEVER NEVER NEVER. I'm a self admitted TV addict. No apologies here. I read plenty and of course spend time on the internet. I also cycle and take hikes and the list goes on. I LOVE MY TV!!!

I love my TV too, unfortunately, like a crack addict loves his crack. Man, can you imagine all the free and productive time you could have if we got rid of the idiot box?

I'll watch my Fox shows (House and Bones) on Hulu instead. I strongly prefer tivo to u-verse's dvr so we'll stay with Time Warner for now.

Didn't this happen to ABC or NBC last year? And yes it did go off the air for a month so no this is not a hoax. With all of the BCS bowls coming up and the NFL playoffs, we will probably buy a digital decoder so we can get the free over the air digital broadcast. I wonder if Time Warner or Fox has any money invested in these decoders?

I ditched cable a few months ago. I determined that everything I really liked to watch was on network TV or eventually available on the Internet (Hulu, Netflix, channel's website). I live in the Lakeline area of 620 and pick up all of the main stations just fine with a tiny pair of amplified rabbit ears (the amplification might even be overkill). I even pick up some stations from the Temple/Belton area (apparently there's a Pentagon channel available to the public...).
