Hi there,

My husband and I are very keen to relocate to your beautiful city with our 3 little daughters. We applied for a sibling visa 5 years ago through my husbands brother who is an American citizen and we've also applied for the Green card lottery 2008. Our other option is an Internal company transfer through Dell, my husband in a project manager (Dell might be in a position to help with our visa). Although I've heard that Dell are laying people off right now. I've read so much about Austin, schools, property, weather, cost of living, lifestyle and its all very positive. It is very different from Ireland and we definitely want to make the move.

I would love to hear from anybody in a similiar position who may be able to help, any advice or ideas would be very much appreciated.

Warmest regards,
CarolineK

Smile Best of luck

Caroline,
I am not in a similar situation as you with regards VISAs but I am also relocating to Austin in one week.
I am Irish (100%) an also have three young children in toe.
If you have any questions please feel free to PM me -I can't promise I'll know much as it'll be all new to me too.
Best of luck!
Triona.

I just wanted to say hi - I lived in Dublin for a year (1994-1995) and it was the best year of my life!

Best of luck!

you may want to PM categ...she relocated here with a Dell transfer, I believe, for her husband, from the U.K. She is pretty new to town and can probably give you some good perspective. Good luck!

Good luck on your relocation here to Austin, its a beautiful city and you will thrive well here.

I am sorry - I don't have the information that you have, though I know quite a few Canadians that have relocated here using the visa system and they all ended up having to have an immigration lawyer.

Also - once you get here... be sure to check out a great Irish Rock Band based here in Austin - Pubcrawler. They are dear friends of mine and as I am relocating to another city - will miss them dearly. Neville is from Dublin and Dave, their new guitarist is from Ireland as well.

Cheers!

Ok, to those of you who live in Ireland right now, I will make you a deal:

You can have our house here in Austin and we'll take your house in Ireland (my wife and I would love to live there)
